Use of BST is controversial primarily due to concerns over potential effects on animal and human health. The past and present business practices of Monsanto as they relate to Posilac and its other products is also debated. Some, for instance, are suspicious concerning the company's ethics and how it is regulated by government given that it produced such chemicals as Agent Orange, DDT, and produces a number of pesticides and genetically modified organisms.
